NEW YORK, March 2026 — A virtual influencer created entirely with AI has won the inaugural “AI Personality of the Year” contest, an online competition organized by a coalition of tech creators and marketers to showcase the most engaging and authentic AI-generated personas.
The winner, an AI character named “Luna Vox,” received the highest number of public votes across platforms including X, TikTok, and a dedicated contest site.
Luna Vox, developed by an independent creator using a combination of large language models, voice synthesis, and 3D animation tools, was praised for her consistent personality, witty responses, and ability to maintain long-form conversations with followers while promoting mental health awareness and creative writing.
The contest, which ran from November 2025 to February 2026, featured 12 finalists selected from hundreds of submissions. Entrants were required to be fully AI-generated (no human puppeteering) and demonstrate originality, engagement, and ethical transparency. Judges evaluated finalists on creativity, audience interaction, and adherence to disclosure guidelines.
Luna Vox’s creator, who remains anonymous, used open-source models and custom fine-tuning to craft her voice, visual style, and backstory as a “digital poet and emotional companion.”
The character posted daily poetry, responded to user prompts in real time, and hosted live Q&A sessions. Supporters highlighted her empathy and lack of commercial agenda compared to some sponsored AI influencers.
Runner-up positions went to a sarcastic AI comedian named “Byte Me” and a virtual fitness coach called “Nova Fit.” The contest included a $50,000 prize pool, with Luna Vox receiving the top award of $25,000.
Organizers described the event as a celebration of AI creativity but also a way to highlight responsible development. All finalists were required to disclose their AI nature and avoid deceptive marketing claims.
The competition reflects the rapid rise of AI-generated influencers, which now number in the thousands across platforms. Critics have raised concerns about authenticity, mental health impacts, and potential manipulation, while supporters argue they offer new forms of creative expression and companionship.
