Though Apple was declared to be the world’s largest company earlier this month, it’s having anticipated obstacles approaching. Trump’s executive order on barring US companies from dealing with Tencent and ByteDance can have a serious impact on iPhone sales in China. It’s because the Chinese are deeply addicted to WeChat (from Tencent), a popular multi-service platform used by over a billion users.

It’s a critical service to be available in every Chinese phone, thus an iPhone without WeChat is simply electronic trash for Chinese users. While analysts predicted this could bring down the iPhone sales by 30%, Trump responded to this as “Whatever“, when asked by a reporter on Friday at a White House press meeting.
