Dogecoin, Elon Musk’s favorite meme coin is now being used for purchasing Tesla merchandise! Fans have rushed to buy things up, with one among them running out of stock already!

About three items – the Gigi Texas Belt Buckle, Cyberquad for Kids, and a stainless steel Cyberwhistle are listed in the Tesla store with Dogecoin as the only payment option. This push by Tesla has driven the price of Dogecoin up by 13% already.

Buying Tesla Items With Dogecoin

Last year, Elon Musk has made enough hype about various meme coins to play with the cryptocurrency community. And now, he’s doing it further by seriously accepting Dogecoin as a means of payment for buying Tesla merchandise!

As seen in the Tesla store, three items viz; the Gigi Texas Belt Buckle, Cyberquad for Kids, and Cyberwhistle are listed to be purchased only in Dogecoin! They come with price tags of 12,020 Doge (for Cyberquad), 835 Doge (for Gigi Texas Belt Buckle), and 300 Doge (for Cyberwhistle).

This event caused the price of Dogecoin to shoot up, for above 13% as per CoinMarketCap’s index. Lately, Elon Musk has been so much interested in Dogecoin, with even designating a special Moon mission based on it.

SpaceX, the private rocket company of Musk has announced a “DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon“, where the company is aimed to send Dogecoin literally to the moon this quarter. To make things more interesting, the entire mission is said to be funded by Dogecoin!

Talking on this, SpaceX’s VP of Comercial Sales, Tom Ochinero said to Geometric Energy as “This mission will demonstrate the application of cryptocurrency beyond Earth orbit and set the foundation for interplanetary commerce.”
