As per reports, WhatsApp is gearing up to release new features to the platform like self-destructive messages, a mute always option, integrating Messenger Rooms and supporting Dark Mode to the WhatsApp Web. While some are immediate, some are still in development.

WhatsApp New Features in August 2020

WhatsApp has long been criticised for delaying important features to the platform. Thus, the world’s largest instant messenger has now brought some of the most requested features soon. From regular reports from WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp’s beta of future versions are having the following features;

Dark Mode for WhatsApp Web

This is just made available, and you can check this in the settings. If you’re a desktop user and wanted your eyes to take less strain, you can turn the background of WhatsApp’s web client into Dark Mode. For this yo activate, navigate to Settings > Theme > Choose between Dark/Light.

Mute Always Option

WhatsApp has finally listened to our prayer of extending the Mute option’s span. Under this, users can now set chats (private or group) to Mute for ultimate! Currently, you’re given the options ranging between 8 hours to 1 year of silencing.

Having a Shortcut to Messenger Rooms

Messenger Rooms from Facebook is their take against Zoom. With a limit of 50 people, anyone can form a group, add people and video chat with them. And since WhatsApp is their subsidiary, Facebook has put a shortcut to Messenger Rooms in WhatsApp in the beta version of the upcoming update. Well, this available for WhatsApp Web only.

Self-destructive Messages

This is one of the important features in any instant messengers. A feature to let people know of your message, and delete after a specific time interval if they don’t respond. WhatsApp’s new version may support self-destructive messages, where users can set a timer to their messages before sending.
