Yet again, Amazon faces an internal data leak by their employee(s) to a third party outside the company. While the company said it terminated those who caused this, this leak is the second one in less than six weeks of the span. Amazon informed to those who were affected through mails and said it’s supporting law enforcement in this issue.

From the email received too few customers of Amazon,

“We are writing to let you know that your email address and phone number were disclosed by an Amazon employee to a third-party in violation of our policies.” Further, it assured that no other details were compromised but the phone number and email address.

The company hasn’t revealed the exact numbers of how many customers were breached nor the number of employees involved in the incident. While TechCrunch reports there’s only one employee caused this breach, Business Insider reports multiple employees involved in this incident.

A spokesperson to Business Insider confirmed the incident of a leak when the internal systems detected suspicious activity and notified them. Further, “The individuals responsible for this incident have been terminated and we are supporting law enforcement in their prosecution.” Though the data breach happened, action as immediate termination shows Amazon’s focus on following strict policies for security issues.

May the Amazon isn’t having a fine year as Facebook, as the social media giant has faced numerous privacy breaches last year. In another incident, Ring, which makes video surveillance systems and a subsidiary of Amazon, has been charged with allegations of unknowns breaching into cameras and spying on their kids.
