Samsung just announced to hold this year’s Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea – making it the first time this event is held in its native country.

The company has also confirmed to launch its next to iteration of foldables, which could be the Galaxy Flip 5 and Galaxy Fold 5. Though we have a number of leaks showcasing how these devices would be, an official unveiling from Samsung is still exciting.

New Samsung Foldables at Unpacked 2023

Samsung decided to hold the Unpacked event twice every year for a reason – with a bunch of product announcements in its arsenal. While the first one is dedicated to new smartphone launches, the second one is for foldable.

In this pursuit, this year’s second Unpacked event is scheduled in July, with potential announcements of Galaxy Flip 5 and Galaxy Fold 5. The company has already confirmed the location to be COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, this year – making it the first time Samsung is holding its grand event at home ground.

“This year, Seoul was selected because of its role in influencing global trends with its dynamic culture and innovation, while it also reflects Samsung’s strong confidence in the foldable category.”

The next-gen Galaxy foldables are tipped to have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and better design to better the handling experience. For example, Galaxy Flip 5 might have a larger external display and a new hinge design to make the display crease less noticeable.

Galaxy Fold 5, on the other hand, is rumored to have a new hinge design to get rid of its predecessor’s gap, ensuring both the display sides lie flat on top of each other when folded – making the creaseless visible. More details on these devices will be announced at the July Unpacked event, scheduled to be held on the last week of the month.
