In a new update to its iOS app, Uber added support for the Live Activities feature – letting iPhone users know the real-time status of their ride.

This widget will appear on the Dynamic Island of iPhone 14 and the lock screen of supported iPhones to display the ride tracking data on the screen. This feature has been in testing for months in select regions and now coming to everyone. Also, Uber is bringing this support to the Uber Eats app too.

Live Tracking of Uber on iPhones

One of the many features that Apple announced for iOS 16 is the Live Activities – where apps leveraging it can display any real-time data they have – letting users be more sure than ever.

Uber is gripping this feature to display real-time ride tracking for its users. Starting today, users with eligible iPhones (running on iOS 16) can see live tracking of their ride – right from booking stage to arrival and drop-off – on their lock screen or the Dynamic Island (in the case of the iPhone 14 series) – when the device is unlocked.

Supported details include the vehicle type, its license plate number, estimated time of arrival, and trip status. With this, users can be more sure about when to step out of your door – as they can see the real-time approaching of their Uber driver.

This feature has been in testing for a while in select regions and now coming to everyone around the world. Besides the ride-hailing, Uber is also bringing this support to its food delivery app – Uber Eats.

Users can track their order delivery status in real-time and be prepared to receive it on time when nearby. Further, the company has also revamped its app to include a Services tab – to find all of the company’s services available in your city and a new Activity Hub to let you track past and upcoming rides and Eats orders.
