USB Implementers Forum, which revealed the high-end 240W charging earlier this year, has developed new certification logos for USB Type C cables, devices, and chargers.

These include distinguishing stickers/logos for 40Gbps-60Gbps for data transfers, 60W-240W charging rates, and combined labels for USBs that can support 40Gbps and 240W deliveries. Consumers can use these to judge and expect product performance.

USB Type-C Certifications

Having labels on products defining their capabilities is always helpful, as it gives buyers an idea into their investment and helps OEMs make reliable products they can boast of. And USB-IF is one such entity, which certifies USB Type-C standards.

Earlier this year, the certification entity unveiled the new 240W power delivery to supported devices, earlier maxed at 100W. And now, it came up with new certification logos for various devices, cables, and chargers to define their power delivery and data transfer rates.

USB-IF Unveiled Certification Logos For 240W Charging

The first one includes 60W-240W labels for USB devices, which can support much faster power delivery through the USB Type-C port. Further, the USB4 certifications are updated with up to 40Gbps data transfer rates, alongside the old 20Gbps logos. Finally, there is a 240W label for chargers that can juice up a supported device in that means.

And we can see a unified label for data rates and charging speeds too. All these will soon show up in marketing leaflets, books, ads, etc., promoted by the OEMs, and maybe seen on the devices and cables too for letting consumers know what to expect.

Unveiling these logos, Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF President and COO, said,

With the new higher power capabilities enabled by the USB PD 3.1 Specification, which unlocks up to 240W over a USB Type-C cable and connector, USB-IF saw an opportunity to further strengthen and simplify its Certified Logo Program for the end user.”
