Elon Musk, the man who we thought is able to take us to Mars is now making us robots, gradually. He today unveiled the working of one of his projects, Neuralink, by implanting a chip into a pig’s brain! Also, he showcased the machinery that would embed this chip into one’s brain, which is aimed to solve neurological problems and eventually connecting us to AI.

Elon Musk’s Showcased an Example of his Neuralink Project

Elon Musk’s association with Tesla and SpaceX has given us a sneak peek into how innovative he is. Alongside, he is also associated with several other companies/projects like The Boring Company, Solar City, Hyperloop etc. Out of them, a really futuristic project is the Neuralink.

Neuralink is all about bringing us closer to technology. While it formally stated that it wanted to solve neurological issues like Spinal Cord injuries, Alzheimer’s and Dementia like problems, an interesting perk is conceptual telepathy. This project also aims at people communicating with each other through their brain signals transmitted through their chips implanted!

While this has a long time to go, Elon Musk has given us a glance at how this process works. He unveiled the tech of machinery and the chip of this project and trailed this on a pig named Gertrude. The coin-sized chip is implanted under the pig’s skull, where the 1,024 thin electrodes of it were connected to the pig’s brain cells.

The chip was able to communicate via Bluetooth to an external computer, and show the readings from its brain. Musk said it’s “like a Fitbit, but in your skull”. The company is now exploring other radio technologies to communicate the chip within from external devices. Musk clarified that the purpose of this event was not to raise money but to employ people who’re capable of succeeding at this goal.
