WhatsApp is evolving with new features periodically. We found the instant messenger to feature Dark Mode in the last update, now it’s adding an advance search method for finding photos, documents, audio, GIFs, URLs, and videos. This makes the bulk searching easier than ever, as you’d get exactly what you wanted by setting clear preferences.

Filtering your search

WABetaInfo has informed about this feature in February, and it seems to roll out now. But this isn’t seen by everyone now, as only the beta testers are able to experience this. This advanced search filtering would enable one to find their desired file, video, audio, links or GIFs more easily now.

Advanced Search feature for iOS. Available for Android too.

Though there’s no specific version mentioned of this, users are recommended to keep their app updated for experiencing this anytime. This new evolution search feature is handy when you wanted to do a quick search among hundreds (even thousands) of media files. Results retrieved from this option are faster though.

Further, you don’t need to open every search result to know where it originated from. As one can tap on them (for URLs) or preview the metadata of every result to know exactly from which conversation it was retrieved from. These improvements are for making life better, by being simple.

Backups Protection

We have heard bout Protect Backups feature, where the automatic backup will now be protected with a password in Google Drive. This is just another security layer, making it more private. This isn’t available yet but will be rolled soon.

Dark Mode

If you didn’t experience it already, it’s because you haven’t updated the app yet. WhatsApp rolled Dark Mode for all users in v2.20.64. And it feels good.
